History

The idea of the Metro Museum germinated during a visit to the London Transport Museum by Delhi Metro's Executive Director, Corporate Communications, Sh. Anuj Dayal in 2008. Following his return to Delhi, a dedicated team was put on work to carry out a thorough research about the information that could be displayed at the museum. At the same time, a team of officials also started scouting for space, where the museum could be set up.

Finally after many deliberations and meetings, Patel Chowk was selected as the venue. Initially, the Metro Museum was thrown open for visitors on 31st December, 2008 with a few information panels. Subsequently, many more exhibits such as working models of the Tunnel Boring Machine, Metro train, Operations Control Centre (OCC) were added.
